Espresso encodes their videos in Mpeg format. You will require Windows media player and Internet explorer if you are on a windows computer and Quicktime and Safari if you are on a Mac. We recommend that you always have the latest version of whichever software it is you use.
Symptoms:
Videos are not playing, Jerky videos, Fast videos, Video Controls not displaying or videos not playing in full screen.
Solution:
- Check the Windows Media Player version by logging on to espresso test page. This will show you the currently installed versions. If needed upgrade newer version of Media Player by clicking the upgrade button, you may need to be logged on with admin rights to install software.
If you have latest version of WMP then try one of the following:
- Right click on a video in Espresso, Select Options and the Performance tab. Slide the Video Acceleration bar to none and try the video again.
- Right click on a video in Espresso, Select Options and the Performance tab. Click the Advanced button, Untick Use Overlays and Video Mixing Renderer.
- Open up Windows media player. Click on Tools, Options and go to the File types tab. Untick Movie File(mpeg). Then click ok and close Windows media player. Re-open media player and go back to the same tab. Then re-tick the Movie file (mpeg) option. Then close Windows Media player and test.
- Check for any other installed video players installed that may be conflicting with Windows media player. Generally these are Realplayer/Realone and QuickTime though some video editing software has been know to interfere with espresso videos as well. If you have these installed please try un-installing them temporarily. Also check for any codec's installed. These will generally have the word codec in them if you check under the add/remove programs list. Try removing those, reboot and try the videos again. Try removing those, reboot and try the videos again.
- Try installing the K-Lite codec pack as this will reset the standard codecs on your system and should allow espresso videos to play. You can download the file klcodec357f.exe from this website http://www.espresso.co.uk/support/files/codec/ by right clicking on that file and choosing save target as. Then just run the file once it is downloaded.
- If all else fails then re-install or upgrade Windows Media player. If you are running Windows media player 11 then go to Start, Settings, Control Panel and Add/Remove Programs. Then select Windows Media player from the list and click Remove/Uninstall. Then when it is removed go to www.espresso.co.uk/test and follow the links there for upgrading Windows Media Player.
