VIDEO ISSUES
To view the Espresso videos you will need Adobe Flash Player and Windows Media Player or Apple QuickTime for MAC.
Please run the Espresso Check Page to check you have the latest version of required software before continuing.
If you have run the Espresso check page but the videos are slow, jerky or will not play at all please try the following. Please note you may need to be logged on as administrator or someone with admin privelages to do some of these:
Try adding Espresso as a trusted site. (Adding espresso as a trusted site will allow potentially blocked content to be viewed without having to comprimise your internet security)
- Open Espresso and make a note of the url in the address bar (eg: http://cachepilot or http://10.1.1.1)
- From the internet explorer tool bar select Tools > Security> Trusted Sites and click on Sites.
- Untick Require Server Verification and type in that address in the top box if it is not already there.
- Click Add and close the previous windows to get back tho espresso.
Espresso should now be a trusted site.
Try turning down video acceleration (PC only) (With some graphics cards and certain versions of Windows media player the Video acceleration needs to be turned down or off to allow espresso videos to play)
- Open up a video in espresso and right click on it.
- Then click on options.
- At the bottom of the screen it will say video accelleration.
- Click the slider bar and drag it down to non. Click Apply and Ok.
Make sure you are running the latest drivers for your video card (If your drivers are not the most up to date they can sometimes have difficulty playing videos encoded with modern codecs.)
- Right click on my computer, click on properties.
- Click on Hardware and then Device manager.
- Click on Display Adapters.
- Right click on the video card, then click on properties.
- Go to the driver tab and click on update. Choose to search the internet for a better driver and follow the on screen prompts. Alternatively, make a note of the display driver name and the driver version on the driver tab. Then do a search online to see if you can find a more up to date version.
PC users check Media Player is the default video player (If another media player has been installed then they may conflict with one another and cause the video not to play.)
- Open Windows media player.
- Click on Tools, Options and File Types.
- Make sure Movie File (Mpeg) is ticked with a black tick on a white box.
- If it is a grey box then untick it and then re-tick it.
MAC users please check QuickTime is the default video player (Mac's require quicktime to play videos in espresso and if it is not set as the default player then it possibly will not play.)
- Open Quicktime.
- Click on Edit and Quicktime preferances.
- Then File Types and make sure that Mpeg is chosen.
Firefox user, check you have the Media player plugin installed (There are several reported problems with videos in Firefox and this plugin resolves them all.)
- Google "Firefox windows media player plugin" and install it if you are running Firefox and have not previously installed it.
Check you broadband connections speed (If your internet speed is too slow then you will experience slow/jerky videos and slow loading espresso pages.)
- Go to this website and make sure your broadband speed is not too slow. http://www.speedtest.net
