Espresso launches home version of its award-winning Espresso Primary service with NTL Home

3rd December 2003

Channel guideEspresso Education today becomes part of the first broadband internet service that provides an 'access all areas' pass to the best paid-for premium content on the web. As part of this broadband package, NTL Home selected Espresso to be the exclusive provider of curriculum-based resources for primary school children.

Access via NTL Home now enables Espresso to deliver its award-winning educational resources into homes in the UK. Facts prove there is marked improvement of student achievement in areas where the learning experience is extended into the home. As a result, LAs, schools, and parents have been very keen to share the Espresso experience outside the school grounds. This commercial relationship allows Espresso to offer a special "home version" of Espresso accessible from homes via NTL Home's Broadband Plus "family" area.

Espresso Primary for homes features over a thousand educational video clips, hundreds of interactive multimedia activities, and a special "Parents' Guide" to help parents understand the curriculum and focus a child's learning. This service was previously available only in schools, trusted in over 1,700 subscribing schools all over the U.K.

Richard McGrath, Managing Director of Espresso, says "We are very pleased to be working with NTL Home to launch a "home version" of our award-winning Espresso Education service on their new Broadband Plus service. Since 1997, we have been working with schools all across the UK to motivate pupils to learn using our highly engaging, video-rich resources. Together as partners, we are positively impacting learning by extending the Espresso experience into homes for use by both parents and children."

Chris Bunyan, Head of Core Internet Services at NTL Home says, "Espresso Education are providing a valuable service for our Broadband Plus subscribers. They have a proven model which works extremely well in schools and it is great that we are able to provide this service in homes for the first time."
