Espresso has formed many partnerships with Regional Broadband Consortia, LAs, and EiC Action Zones to produced Espresso Commissioned Content. Espresso Commissioned Content provides local organisations with a unique opportunity: to commission and share specialised, regionalised content through Espresso Primary which serves national education priorities.
An RBC or LA that commissions the work can distribute their Espresso module via their portal or intranet for all their schools to enjoy.
Examples of commissioned content
Espresso has developed partnerships with all of the following educational organisations. Some organisations have even commissioned two or three pieces!
The award winning Espresso Poetry workshop module features videos that provide examples, suggestions and models of good practice for the starting points, drafting and performance of poetry.
The module includes video clips of poetry performances from pupils in schools in Barrow-in-Furness and looks at the work of local poets from this area, both past and present.
The two key areas of learning that the module addresses are personal, social and emotional development and knowledge and understanding of the world.
The videos in People who help us capture key people at work in the local area, wider community and in far away places.
The videos provide a great opportunity for discussion to explore: who these people are, where they work, what they do and what equipment they use. Children will encounter new vocabulary and concepts that will help to prepare and equip them to re-enact situations in their own role-play.
The modules look at Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Islam and Sikhism.
Filmed at various locations on both sides of the Thames, the video footage features local families in places of worship, the local community and festivals. These modules cover the basic tenets, cultural traditions and religious observance of the individual faiths, supporting the teaching of Key Stage 2 Religious Education. They also promote their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and meet many of the requirements of the QCA Schemes of Work and LA guidelines for RE.
